We believe that working in conjunction with the local community is key to running successful projects. We have been privileged to work with the Consejo Municipal de Integración y Desarrollo de Ramón Santana, a voluntary community group which works for the development of Ramón Santana and its surrounding area. They have provided not only moral support and key local knowledge but also volunteers and transport to the bateyes. This is in addition to providing us with teaching spaces, helping us plan and solve any problems that arise and advising us as to the feasibility of future projects.
Furthermore, the organisation has developed and continues to foster strong links with local schools and community members, especially in the batey communities. These relationships allow us to ensure our projects are carried out effectively and in line with local practices.
